Since You Asked...

Some of you were wondering, so I'll tell you a bit about the family. My wife, Vickie (Jacobitz), did work here at Channel 7 through the 90's. She left in 2000, shortly before our first daughter turned 1. She went from TV news into pharmaceutical sales and has been doing that ever since. She's actually in Greece this week with a group of friends running her first marathon. Yes, that marathon - from Athens to Marathon. I told her she didn't have to leave Marathon County to do that - but she seemed to prefer the other. It's quite the accomplishment.

As for our kids, our oldest - Olivia - is 10 and Elena is 6. They both have varied interests and couldn't be more opposite of each other. Olivia loves art music and sports (I learned all about the world of softball tournaments this summer), while Elena enjoys gymnastics and - more importantly - fashion. She's also quite artistic and creative. They're both a lot of fun. The best part is, I'm now reacquainting myself with the world of elementary math and english. When I was in school, I always wondered why we had to learn all that stuff. After all, when were you ever going to use it? Turns out it's when you need to help your kids do their homework. Go figure.

During the week of the 9th, there's a couple of features you might want to check out.  On Tuesday (11/10) in "What'cha Got?", I feature what I call a "closet collector".  No, he doesn't collect closets - he just keeps his stuff hidden away in a closet until the day he's allowed to bring it out for permanent display.  It's our very own Mikel Lauber and he'll show off the stuff he saved during his days as a movie theatre projectionist.  There's some interesting things there. Then, on Thursday (11/12), "Is It Worth It?" dives into the blankets. It's Slanket vs. Snuggie.  As it turns out Slaket is the first one that hit the shelves, with Snuggie not far behind. I was surprised - there are differences.  Check it out to see what they are.
