Early on this basketball season, I kept noticing that Don Anderson was the name of the Prentice girls basketball team. I went back and looked at some old scripts, and just as I thought, Don Anderson was the Bucs boys coach before retiring last year.
Recently, new boys coach Jerry Shoup called in a score and I asked, "Did Don un-retire on us." Jerry went on and told me yes, he did. The cliffs-notes version is the former coach had a new job and the commute was too much. So Don decided to take on the coaching duties for the girls...which includes his daughter.
Don said he's already heard the Favre jokes about coming out of retirement. But seeing Favre is playing in the NFC Championship, and Anderson is 11-0 with the Bucs and ranked 2nd in the state, the comparisons seem justified. Good to have you back on the bench Don.
Until next time....
