It's been a while since I last blogged. Finally got through golf week, which turns into golf 2-weeks. Anyhow..
--If you didn't get to see the golf highlight show this past Sunday, you can watch it online. Check it out and let me know what you think, even if you watch only portions or a small snipet. The whole crew put a lot of time into it and think we put out a good product, but the real judge(s) is YOU.
--Packers training camp is upon us. Good to have football full-time once again. And we have a local connection in Mosinee's Kole Heckendorf. An undrafted rookie out of North Dakota State, Kole is trying to make the Packers' roster as a receiver. From what I gather, he's impressed the coaching staff so far with his hands and route running. Oh by the way, Kole is providing a daily blog for NewsChannel 7 on his pursuit of a roster spot. Be sure to check out Kole's blog as he gives us peek inside Packers training camp.
--So Brett Favre is straying retired. And less than a week later, Tarvaris Jackson sprains his MCL. Unreal. I'll be shocked if we get to November and no Favre playing. Then again, I was shocked he didn't come back this time. Proving time and again, the guy is totally unpredictable and plays by his own rules.
--The Brewers stood pat as the trade deadline came and went. I said it last week as the deadline approached, it wouldn't make any sense to make a move when they're in 4th place, 4-1/2 games out of first, when three weeks prior they were in 2nd and 1 game back. If they didn't feel the need to do it back then, why do it as the deadline neared. Better luck next year...
--The Hilight Zone returns August 28. Again, we plan on featuring local pep bands, dance teams and cheer squads. That innovative idea is most likely why The Hilight Zone was voted "Best Sportscast" by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association...trust me, it had NOTHING to do with the hosts :) So if you'd like to see your school represented on Friday nights, shoot me an e-mail.
Until next time...
