Packer fans: "...get on board now or keep their mouths shut.”

“I don’t feel I need to sell myself to the fans.  They need to get on board now or keep their mouths shut.” -- Aaron Rodgers

Those words uttered out of the mouth of one Aaron Rodgers, which you can read in this Wednesday's (7/2) edition of Sports Illustrated.  The article compares Rodgers to Marty Domres (Johnny Unitas), Cliff Stoudt (Terry Bradshaw), Scott Hunter (Bart Starr) and Jay Fiedler (Dan Marino).  QB's who have followed a legend.  The advice from each of the 2nd stringers is for Rodgers to be himself and don't change.

When the writer asked Rodgers about how he felt being compared to Brett Favre, Rodgers uttered the quote up top.  In the 4 weeks of OTA's and the recent mini-camp, Rodgers has come across pretty confident, one could say even a little brash.  But that's what it takes to be a QB for the Packers, right?  Not so much arrogance as confidence.  I for one CAN NOT WAIT to see how the season goes with Rodgers, which I think it should go well.  He may be asked to win a game or two, but for the most part, if all the other pieces are clicking he just has to manage.

I was working out in Western Nebraska (2 hours from Denver) when Elway retired and Brian Griese took over.  And you could just see that Griese was trying to be more than he actually was.  That's why he was eventually pulled in favor of Gus Frerotte...Gus Frerotte?!  It will weigh on Rodgers if things take a wrong turn (7 of their first 9 are against playoff teams from '07), but if they start fast, say 5-1 or 4-2 after the first 6 games, the confidence will be there.  However...the Lions were 6-2 at the midway point.  OUCH!  Sorry about that.

What do you think?

Until next time, and there will be a next time.

If I were Rodgers I'd tell the packers to G.T.H.

Everyone who is down on Favre for changing his mind about retiring needs to get off their high horses and admit the fact that he's human and does, as all of you have at one time or another, changed your mind about certain decisions that you've made. Furthermore, whether it's the attention he craves or not, I believe he should be allowed to play, after all he is under contract and is still more than capable, I believe he proved that last year. The way the Pack is handling this situation is a joke, I thought the point of a sports team was to win the championship, apparently not in the case of the Packers, since they're willing to toss aside one of the best QBs of all time in favor of an unproven benchwarmer, I don't think the Pack will be anywhere near the NFC championship next season unless of course they buy tickets and sit with the fans.

Posted by: Anonymous Farve likes the attention and cant stand the thought of not being in the lime lite what kind of memorys will we have of him if he has a really bad season and what about all the planning the coaches put in for a different Q.B

Posted by: Gary a mans word dont mean much anymore. Brett said he was retiring nobody forced him now in July he wants to come back .what is wrong with this maybe next year he will wait till september

When you are a fan of the team its confidence and maybe brash. When you are not a fan its arrogance and immaturity. Is it more than a coincidence that Brett Favre's story comes out right when Rodgers has his story in SI. Favre loves attention.

Posted by: Anomonys Will we have to watch Rogers Play this year or will we be able to watch Favre play.
