Well, that didn't take long. Gagne is out, for now. Yost says he'll go with a closer by committee to give Gagne a "mental break." WHat that means is it won't be long before Yost hands the 9th inning back over to Gagne.

The Brewers' Eric Gagne didn't quite blow the save on Saturday night against the Cards, but he certainly blew it! Tied at 3, he loads the bases and allows a 2-run hit to Ryan Ludwick for what turns out to be the game winner for the Cards, 5-3. In 15.2 innings, he's 18 hits, 11 walks and 12 earned runs. That's an ERA of 6.89 and opponents are hitting .400 against him. After the game, Gagne admitted he doesn't deserve to be the team's closer right now. REALLY?!?!
Why was Gagne even in there in a tied ballgame?! A terrible call by Yost. Milwaukee has never been known to be a hot-bed for baseball like the Cubs, Yankees, etc. But the pressure on upper management to relieve Yost of his duties is burning like a wildfire right now. He's shown a knack to stick with guys and have confidence in them, which players love, but enoughs enough already. I know he can't make the hitters hit, but he could remove Rickie Weeks from the leadoff spot. He's hitting under .200. You call that leadoff material?
So who loses his job first? Yost or Gagne?
