When should the Pack retire #4?

The Packers are looking at one of their first four home games to retire Brett Favre's jersey.  OK, so the first 4 home games are Minnesota, Dallas, Atlanta and Indianapolis.

The Minnesota game, they should cross that off the list.  What worse way for Aaron Rodgers to make his season debut on a Monday night, on national TV than to have Favre on hand.

Dallas?  I said Tuesday with it being a primetime game on NBC, it'd be perfect for one final slobber-fest with John Madden, but on second thought, it's part of the gold package--Milwaukee ticket holders.  Bad idea.  Nothing against Milwaukee, but it has to be for the Green Bay ticket holders.

Indianapolis?  Part of a national TV doubleheader, Louisiana native Peyton Manning grew up an hour from Favre's home in Kiln, Mississippi, but the Colts will be a hot ticket anyway, so no need to go there.

Last, my choice.  Atlanta.  Favre started his career with the Falcons, and it would add a little intrigue to a game that would otherwise have little fanfare.

Also, did you see that ESPN is looking for Titletown USA?  That's right.  They're going to 20 cities in July, starting in Green Bay to find where Titletown USA is.  What a joke.  This is why ESPN's SportsCenter is a mere shadow of what it once was.  Remember the "Who's Now?" from last summer?  That was stupid.  I have no doubt that Green Bay will not be voted Titletown USA.  It will probably be Boston, New York or LA.  But c'mon!  It's been really windy here in Wausau the last few days, are we the new Windy City?

The first game. Get it over with. The Packers finally need closure with Favre. Rodgers doesn't need Favre in his back pocket for half the season, it will be tough enough on him. As soon as you hang Favre's jersey and send him "packing" back to Kiln, the better for the Pack and Rodgers. Also, with only 1 sports team, Green Bay is the farthest thing from being called Titletown. ESPN is doing the right thing, thank goodness !

I agree that Atlanta would be the best choice to retire Favre's number. His first team that he played for as the opponent that day seems like the perfect time to retire it. ESPN will not select Green Bay for Titletown. It will select a large market city for that. Even if they do select a different city, everyone knows Green Bay will always be the original and real Titletown.

Did you hear that Wi is recalling the state quarters? They want to do them over and put Brett Farve on it because they want their quarter back....Ha Ha
