With the recent departure of LeeAnn, that has our station feverishly looking for a replacement for a morning weather person ... but until that time, I have been tabbed as the interim morning weather person.
In my oodles of years of broadcasting, about 60% of them were on a morning show, either here or at another place down the road... so the morning shift isn't necessarily new to me, but over the years I guess I have forgotten a few things.
1) caffeine is my friend. I went from an occasional soda/energy drink every week week or so, to daily caffeinated sodas and back to drinking more coffee.
2) in the past few years since I was last on a permanent morning show, technology is about the same, but the gadgets and gizmos have changed quite a bit. The nice thing about that is, I'm the web person for our station, so it isn't too much of a shock or change.
3) going to bed when you are not tired, or before 8pm, is a tough thing to do, especially if you're an insomniac.
4) set more than one alarm clock... I pitched my one set alarm clock, across the room Monday morning. Thankfully, it scared me more than anything, so I was awake and ready to go.
One other big change, this show now starts at 4:30am. So, instead of being able to slide in at 3:15am or so.. it's now come in by 2:45am... or earlier if the weather looks active or threatening.
In any case, until a replacement is found, I'll be switching back to the morning show and having some fun with Jeff, Bao and Amy.
There is some benefit to coming in this early... it only takes me 10 minutes to get to work now, as opposed to 15-20. :)
