As part of my job as a meteorologist, I get the pleasure of giving school talks to the area schools during the school season and enjoyed visiting G.W. Mead Elementary in Wisconsin Rapids Tuesday. It was a nice day for a drive and a nice afternoon to get out of the office (don't tell my bosses that!). LOL
I thoroughly enjoyed visiting with all of the Fourth Graders there, and I hope they had a chance to pick up a little bit about forecasting the weather. We covered topics like using clouds to forecast the weather, to showing them a quick method of doing a forecast with models that actually spit out numbers. Thank you for
Up next is a visit to the MDA Ride and festivities this weekend with a visit later Saturday afternoon to Franklin Elementary and their PTO Carnival Days. Instead of eating food like I did at last year's event.... this year, well, it seems fitting what my new role will be. I will be in the dunk tank for a part of the afternoon,,,, seems fitting, since I seem to always go in the water (Polar Plunges, Lumberjack Shows, etc.) and it also gives people the chance to "get back" at the weather people in this area.
Either way, more video and pictures of that event to follow... Hope to see you out there or at the MDA event this weekend!
