Few farewells to pass along on this second Sunday of January.....
One- to the Packers in the post season. While initially shocked in the first half, I wasn't ready to panic on their chance and ability to come back and make a good solid effort in that game and possibly win it. The quick TD towards the end of the game scared me, but when Rackers missed the last second FG at the end of the 4th, I thought for sure the Packers would win that hard fought game. Unfortunately they did not and now join my Steelers on the sidelines watching the road to the SuperBowl.
Now, am I allowed to cheer and root for the Vikings? I really don't wanna cheer and root for the Cowboys nor the Cardinals, and I most certainly won't cheer for the Ratbirds (Ravens) to get there... maybe Amy will let me hop on her bandwagon with the Colts going to the big game?
Next up... farewell to Todd Hicks... what can I say about this dude over the years? He has done it all for NewsChannel 7 over the past few years and I can tell you his humor and abilities in the newsroom will be greatly missed. There are so many stories I could name here... his trip to Iowa, going to confront a chancellor, attempting to chat with a local mayor, can't forget an incident at a mobile home park, etc.... things where I just dunno how many other reporters would have been quite as assertive as him in their attempt to try and find the truth with what's going on.. yet, Todd was that person for our station.
There are other things, such as his inability to know how to run his heated seats in his truck.. the ability to feed others in the newsroom and not have anything himself because of his "genorosity".... too many things to list here, not enough time to do so. LOL
Todd has moved on to a station east of Wausau (along Highway 29) and now joins the ranks of working with various other NC7 peeps in the market (Alison, Angela, Wendy.. and he'll be working directly with former NC7 at Noon Alum (before Alison) Julie Huck).
Best of luck to you Todd... you will be missed duder!
My last farewell is to the State of Washington. I dunno if/when I will get out here again and I am hopeful I do not have to come out here again... since I am optimistic my parents will retire and move out "east" closer to us kids this summer. If I am needed to help move, I may be out here again... otherwise, farewell to the Seattle area for now. It is truly beautiful out here, that's fo' sho'!
