There are so many things going on today in the world of space, I'm not even sure where to begin. Let's start with this little tidbit, with the moon in the New Moon phase, two different things will be viewable in the sky tonight. First, from approximately 5:25pm to 5:30pm, the International Space Station will be visible in the northwestern horizon and will move rather quickly, into the northeastern horizon tonight. You should be able to see it with the naked eye, but you'll want to be outside of the city limits to do so.
After that passes by, the Leonid Meteor Shower will continue with night number two across the area with 20 to 30 meteors streaking across the sky tonight. You'll again want to be outside of the city limits for best viewing.

Next, JJ Abrams' version of Star Trek came out today on DVD and Blu-Ray. I"m a pretty big Star Trek fan, but moreso of the Original Series (TOS in Trekkie speak) and then then Next Generation (TNG). So, as a big Captian Kirk/William Shatner fan, I was interested in seeing how JJ would go back and span across the different generations of the various shows, and the different generations of fans. Overall, I was okay with his new vision that I saw in the theatres back in May and I look forward to the second movie, whenever that comes out... right now, it's guesstimated for 2012. Lots of rumors fly about Khan being in the next one, as well as maybe Mr. Shatner himself. I'll be honest with you, I think they should pass on bringing Khan back and find a way to bring old Captain Kirk back into the mix... just my two cents worth.
Trekkie fans, what do you think?
