This is information that we received from the National Weather Service Office in Green Bay. They are responsible for most of the counties in our viewing audience, minus Price, Taylor, Clark, Juneau and Adams Counties.
This is information from Jeff Last at the NWS Office in Green Bay.

This is the first time that there was no severe hail, wind or tornado reports for June and July! This was also the first time without any kind of severe reports during May-July. In addition, the longest stretch of weather without severe weather reports during a season was 100 days. That occurred from April 25 through August 2.
This is also the fewest number of tornadoes in this area, which was 0- and this also occurred in 1975. There have only been 12 severe reports for this summer, which is a record based on the last 15 years worth of data!
For the number of warnings, it has also been a very slow season (through August 31)- there have only been 29 warnings issued. The next slowest season was 83 in 1997. In addition, this is the first time that a Tornado warning was not issued this season, with the previous record being 2 back in 2003.
In addition in Wausau, it has been very cool this season, even though August turned out to be a relatively normal month. Wausau's average temperature through the end of August was 64.7, which is 3.1 degrees below normal. This is the 12th coolest summer season on record and the records go all the way back to 1895.
For Rhinelander, the average temperature this summer was 61.7 degrees, which puts it 3.2 degrees below normal. This ranks as the 3rd coolest summer on record for Rhinelander. The two coldest are: 1992 where the average temp was 61.0 and in 1924 where the average temp was 61.2.
Now, this will be an interesting prediction for the winter- we are entering an El Nino type year, which typically brings warmer than normal conditions to the state of Wisconsin. Notice I did NOT mention anything about snowfall... but since this summer was so cool, we'll have to wait and see what the weather pattern changes to in the next month... then I'll make may "prediction".
