High School Musical 2 comes to an end ...

It's that time of the year again, where Central Wisconsin Children's Theater's (CWCT) production of High School Musical 2 comes to an end and I am left with mixed emotions. I have been very busy this summer with many projects, new webchannel, started teaching online classes, YourTown, Hodag, etc... just "busier" than normal... so the end of the performances will help my 4 hours of sleep per night, but I am saddened again that is has ended.

I can not say ENOUGH about how much work these "kids" put into these performances! They started back in April with rehearsals, had 3 performances at Sentry Theater in Stevens Point a few weeks ago, and then the last 4 at the Grand Theater here in town this past weekend.

Some of the performers were from last year's High School Musical, others were new to the High School Musical family.... yet just like last year, it was a tight knit crew and they worked wonderfully together. My time with them is always limited, but it's always enough to make me sad when I know that I probably won't see most of them again ... until hopefully next year and High School Musical 3!

There's so much that goes into these kind of productions... and it's all pretty much volunteers doing all the work. Building the sets, directing, support for the director and crew, students, etc... are all volunteers that do this because of their passion for the theater and in particular... for Children's Theater.

There are so many things that I will remember about this show ... from Emily taping her shoes together, to Billie about hitting herself with a golf ball, to talking with Josh about going to school for meteorology, to Jason (sorry dude, have to mention it) calling someone his own character name (Troy), - or when Jason (Troy) would come offstage after the being a "jerk" scene to his WildCat friends and Jason would be like "ya, I'm a big jerk" pumping his fists and laughing about it, to which every performance I would say something different to him about it (such as, way to go loser!)  ha ha ha - to my calling out of the "cat fight" when Gabriella goes to confront Sharpay ... to the cast eating all of the cookies that were needed for several scenes before they made it to those scenes!... to Fulton (Ed) doing the splits during the curtain calls and then popping the botton off of his pants and watching him trying to sing and dance while holding his pants up (Saturday night!) ... and my most memorable, just because of the honor of it... when Tori/Heather/Ed changed Fulton's line to "you may save the weather reports for Chad Franzen" while talking to Jack Scott (Bobby). I am honored to even have a part in the musical and then I even got my name read.... it was great!

I am hopeful that CWCT and many of this cast are able to pull off HSM3 next summer.... it's a huge undertaking (financially and man-hours and dedication wise) but I hope it is something that will be done!  Big thank you to all involved, especially Heather Martell, the director, for adding a part for myself and Tori (my trophy wife) in the musical.  GREAT JOB WILDCATS...

Did you get to a show?  What did you think?

Here's a few pics:

Annie Froelich and I ... yes, those are BRIGHT YELLOW PANTS!

Here are some pics from behind the scenes:

One of many routines during HSM2...

Gabriella about to dump Troy for being such a "jerk". C'mon Troy, Get Your Head in the Game.

Troy bawling like a baby cuz Gabriella is dumping him and giving him back his "T" for Troy Necklace.
