Weather Radio Safety program
Updated: 08/04/2011 -
Alright, let's briefly discuss this next weather maker coming in for Tuesday morning, afternoon and evening. Bottom line is, most locations will experience some poor travel conditions Tuesday morning and again for Tuesday night, regardless of how much snow falls. We're expecting a wintry mess in the morning to gradually become a mixture of rain, sleet and snow for most areas by noon, with this almost all becoming snow by late Tuesday night.
Let's go into this further....
Price, Vilas, Oneida, Forest, Langlade, and northern Taylor through northern Lincoln Counties will have the most amounts of snow... overall once the storm system leaves late Tuesday night. In these areas, expect snow to start early Tuesday and remain mainly snow until a mixture starts to develop around noon. This mix will turn back over to snow again Tuesday night and into early Wednesday morning.
Predicted Snow Totals: (Please note, these are 24 hour totals, and that much of the morning snow will melt and settle before the wintry mix changes back over to snow Tuesday night:
Phillips- 3.5"
Rhinelander- 2.5", lots of slush
Tomahawk- 2.0", lots of slush.
Areas such as: Taylor, northern Clark, Lincoln, southern Langlade, Shawano, Menominee and Marathon Counties will see an inch or so of snow in the morning, but it will turn into a rain snow mix by the mid-morning hours. Most of the morning snow should melt throughout the day with .25" to .50" of rainfall possible. Expect the rain to become snow showers by late Tuesday night with a sleet/light snow accumulation of up to an inch by early Wednesday morning.
Predicted Snow Totals: (Please note, these are 24 hour totals, and that much of the morning snow will melt and settle before the wintry mix changes back over to snow Tuesday night:
Medford- 2.0", slushy. Another 1" overnight into Wed. AM
Merrill- 2.0", lots of slush early and then melting. Another 1" overnight into Wed. AM
Wausau- 1.0", lots of slush early and then melting. Up to 1/2" overnight into Wed. AM
The rest of our area: southern Clark, Wood, Portage, Waupaca, Waushara, Juneau and Adams Counties will see a wintry mix and slush early Tuesday morning with some slush accumulation. Expect this to become mainly rain from the mid-morning all the way through the late evening hours. Some minor slush/snow accumulation is possible late Tuesday night as temps fall below freezing into early Wednesday morning.
Predicted Snow Totals: (Please note, these are 24 hour totals, and that much of the morning snow will melt and settle before the wintry mix changes back over to snow Tuesday night:
Stevens Point- 1/2" slush early.. Another 1/2" slush overnight into Wed. AM.
Wisconsin Rapids- 1/2"slush early Tuesday. Mainly rain as precip. ends late Tuesday night.
Adams/Friendship- 1/2" slush early. Mainly rain as precip. ends late Tuesday night.
Here's my map of snowfall:

Bottom line is... for everyone, travelling early Tuesday morning could be really slick for many areas... please be careful!
Alright, onto the more fun stuff with our annual visit from Peace Lutheran School in Antigo. I'm not sure exactly how many years they have come to visit us in the Noon Show, but I know this was my 3rd year of giving them a tour! Thanks for coming in again this year Mrs. Luerssen's Class!

Amy and I were thrilled to have y'all be a part of our show and we look forward to your visit next year as well!
