After watching my beloved Steelers play the last game before the Super Bowl last night... I couldn't sleep. The energy, emotion and excitement that comes with one's team when they go to the final show... it's just amazing. I'm an emotional dude to begin with and between my Steelers and my Colorado Rockies (Series in 2007), I've had a pretty good past 3 years with my sports teams.
There are so many little things between the Steelers and Cardinals... Coach Whiz (Whisenhunt) and Russ Grimm with the Cardinals, were both on the Steelers staff as of 2 years ago. They both left when Cowher's old job was given to a young Mike Tomlin... and they have done some great things in Arizona for the Cardinals in the past 2 years.
Former Steelers players that those 2 coaches are familiar with, are now on the Cardinals. Special Teams ace Sean Morey, recently signed TE Jerame Tuman, 3rd QB Brian St. Pierre, and injured Clark Haggans are now Cardinals.. after winning a Super Bowl ring with the Steelers just a few years back.
I think something that is even more interesting,,, is that these teams were once the same... they were called Card-PItt after 2 NFL teams merged during the 1944 season. These teams merged due to the fact they had many of their players go into military service and World War II. Unlike this year... in 1944, the Card-Pitt (Car-pitts was their nickname) went 0-10 that year.
Here's what one of my bedroom walls looks like at home... my Steelers Wall of Fame!
