Bill and Katie Get Hitched

I write today to chat about my good friends Bill Martens and Katie O'Brien's wedding from early October.  It was held in Katie's hometown of Woodbury, MN and yours truly got to be the crowd control person for these celebrities from NewsChannel 7's past.  Actually, I was crowd control and an usher, but when I was approached by Bill and Katie, they used terms like crowd control and mace and pepper spray, so I knew for sure it would be a great wedding.

It was held on a Friday afternoon, and on a perfect afternoon weatherwise.  Bill should have known that if you're marry a meteorologist, we make sure that wedding day is absolutely perfect.  Of the past 3 meteorologist's weddings I've been to, (Brad K, Jason Kratzwald and now Katie O'Brien) the weather has been awesometastic!  It was a beautiful afternoon with the bride and bridesmaids all arriving to the church via a carriage from a few blocks down the road at O'Brien's homestead.  Inside the church, they had a screen with a camera showing them all arriving to the church.

It was a great ceremony, with Mr. Martens jumping the gun a bit on the "I do" part... but if you know Bill like the rest of us do, you know he covered with a quick one-liner and the service continued.  It was a wonderful wedding and I had a great time hanging out with the Martens/O'Brien clans... they are truly good peeps as we like to say in tv... good peoples!   The reception was held a beautiful banquet hall in Stillwater and we certainly danced the night away... although I didn't dance, I'm still recovering from an undisclosed knee injury.

I really do miss them both, but was happy to see them start their lives as husband and wife... and the nice thing is, I won't have to help Bill move again.  LOL
