I decided I would share some of my superstitions from different games/venues over the years... cuz there is NO way I am alone on this!
Football's was easy,,, since I played for so many years...(3rd grade through my last year of college)... never polish your helmet to look good under the lights (I was an offensive linemen... looked good all scratched up to me!)... put pants on first, do NOT wash practice pants/jersey, shoulder pads go on ONLY when on the field of battle, NEVER wear sleeves.. no matter how cold (-35 wind chill one game in college and no sleeves), head butt fellow players (no hand slaps) and always remember to have your MUSIC before the game. Carb loading before games is a must... especially at buffets that have pasta and pizza. In High School (Montana) it was Godfathers, in College (South Dakota) it was Shakey's!
"Non organized" sports-
Volleyball... Always wear a visor! Skeeter spray too. Never wash the shorts... only the team shirt. Don't show up more than 5 minutes early. Keys, ID and minimal cash.
Softball... do NOT wash the jersey or softball pants.... wear mouthpiece, take 3 practice swings in the on-deck circle before being up to bat, wear visor with sunglasses (whether on the top of the head or actually worn).
Golf... no warm-ups... only stretching. Carry 3 golf balls in pocket at all times... right side. Carry no less than 10 tees in other right pocket. Left pocket(s) remain empty.
Never set an alarm clock to ring on an "even" number... never 6:28am... 6:27 or 6:29am! This goes for the timer on my coffee pot too.
Always unbutton suit immediately when off camera. In fact, if you look closely you will see where the "grease" of my hand has ruined most of my suit buttons within 3 months of purchasing them. Always check email first. Web weather is done first, then the Weather Channel weathers. Write something "cute" in the rundown of the Noon Show to keep it light-hearted. Only wear makeup for 2 hours, or less. LOL
I KNOW I am not alone on this... share yours... if you want to!
