IT IS FINALLY HERE!

It's finally here... yay! We're now streaming live video 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year!
What does that mean for you? Well, that means you and everyone across the world can now watch all of our live newscasts via the world wide web. When we're not showing the local newscast, enjoy our 24/7 weather channel via the live stream. Our 24 hour weather channel is already available over the airwaves and you can watch the 24/7 weather channel on Charter Digital 247, or DTV 7-3.

A little bit more information about "our" weather channel vs. the "other" weather channel. Our weather channel is run locally at the NewsChannel 7 Studios with all the local forecasts being produced by one of our StormTeam 7 Meteorologists. The National forecasts are provided by the fine folks at AccuWeather. The local forecasts on "our" weather channel (24/7 weather), are available every few minutes.

The "other" weather channel that many people are familiar with, is based in Atlanta, Georgia. Most of the time, our forecasts will differ from their forecasts... for one important reason. To save money, the "other" weather channel runs a computer model and that in turn "spits" out the numbers that you see on the screen. As any meteorologist will tell you, taking a computer's forecast without human intervention can be a risky proposition.

We get a lot of calls about why are forecasts differ so much sometimes, compared to the "other" weather channel... and the simple answer is, Local Local Local. Our forecasts are done locally, while theirs is not.

Enough of that business,,, anyone care to guess/forecast the last day we'll have to worry about snow this Spring? Have a good weekend!

I think Todd's not too worried about the "eau claire bear" anymore after having a good time camping this past weekend. I'll be riding very soon... bike should be done sometime this week. Have a good week!

Regarding the comment left by Nathan from Grand Marsh on Katie O'Brien, it now looks like Katie's name is no longer listed with the Channel 7 meteorologists. Chad, has Katie left for another job somewhere else? If so, I wish her the very best wherever she went.

Yes, Katie O'Brien has left to pursue other opportunities in Madison. We wish her well and already miss her. I miss singing various commercials while she was around.... as she would laugh hysterically at my poor singing and poor Billy Mays impersonations.

Thanks! Keep on watching... we'll be looking for ya!

Posted by: mandy have a good weekend and have a safe ride tomm.

Thanks... I wasn't able to ride this year... the "Honda Davidson" I own wasn't ready to ride. Had I gotten the bike ready to go earlier this Spring, it would have been ready. I blame the weatherpeople... know anyone I should blame? LOL

When can we start planting in the garden, and not worry about the frost? Is warm weather coming soon or Not?

Most locations are now at or just past our average last frost dates... however, it still looks a bit cool through the middle of next week. I would say after next Thursday (May 22nd), we should be looking good to be done with frost. However, this is Wisconsin... and there has been frost reported in early June before!

I would like to point out that I am not "you know who..." so accuse someone else of anonymously posting on your blog! :)

My apologies Alison... I believe you sent me one of those a long time ago... unless that wasn't you too? In any case, look for another blog to be posted soon ... again! ;)

Chad, congradulations on your award that you won last month. I see they have Mike's awesome award listed, why do they not list yours? Wausau is lucky to have 2 of the top 3 weather people in the state on channel 7. Keep up the great work. -from a fellow broadcaster

Hi there fellow broadcaster. Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I did win an award, but it was Mike who was given the #1 overall Weathercaster Award... which is an awesometastic honor! Lee Peek and Nikki Montgomery from WDEZ also won an award as well for best morning radio personalities! Awesome for them too!

Chad where have you been. Missing you on the noon show. You didn't leave us did you?????

I didn't leave. I've been working on some behind the scenes things over the past few weeks.

Hey Chad: Has Katie O'Brien left Channel 7? We haven't seen her on the past 2 weekends and I noticed that she is absent from your latest promotions. Channel 7 rocks! You and all of your co-workers are to be commended for the excellent, professional work that you do. We especially appreciate your coverage of Adams County news. Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your kind words,,, Juneau and Adams Counties have a special place in my heart for a couple of reasons... one being several years ago while storm chasing on a bridge on highway 21 from Arkdale to Necedah (over the Wisconsin River).. a former colleague of mine (Kevin Usealman) and I had 2 funnel clouds... one on the north side, one on the south side ... it was awesome. In any case, you will notice Katie is currently doing the Noon Shows (Monday through Friday) and that Jeremy Tabin has slid into the weekend spots for now.

Posted by: u know who..... When are ya going to post something new....

I posted something new! ... Alison! :)

Hey Chad, Do you know what the projected number of tornadoes were supposed to get this year?

The National Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center don't offer predictions on the tornado forecasts for an upcoming season. Dr. Gray, from Colorado State University, still offers his seasonal forecasts for Hurricanes.

Posted by: Anonymous Chad where are you hiding we all miss you on the morning and noon shows. Please hurry back.

I'm not hiding anywhere. I'm back from a few days off.

What effect will the recent earthquake in Illinois have on our weather,if any?

Earthquakes of great magnitude could possibly have an impact on weather... but it would have to be a massive earthquake to do so. For us, there will be very little impact on our weather from the few earthquakes there have been in southern Illinois within the past week.

Posted by: Anonymous We miss you at noon!!!

I miss y'all too. LOL I had a few days off last week, but I'm back now.

Posted by: Anonymous where have you been in the morning?

I have been sleeping! LOL Just enjoying a few days off. I'm back now.
