(WAUSAU, Wisconsin), June 09, 2009 – The Marathon County Farm Service Agency will be hosting their sixth annual open house on Tuesday, July 7, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Marathon County FSA office staff will be sharing information with local communities on FSA’s County Committee Election process and the importance of participating.

The County Committees help deliver FSA farm programs at the local level. Producers serving on the county committees work to make FSA agricultural programs meet the needs of other local producers.

The theme of this year’s election is “FSA Counts on You: Nominate and Vote.” The open house is an opportunity for local producers and landowners to visit FSA county offices to find out more about the election process and how they can make a difference.

The nomination period for this year’s election is from June 15 to August 3. There is plenty of time for local farmers and landowners to get involved.
