Family Tradition Leads Edgar Football

On Thursday, Edgar finished off a perfect season with another state championship, with a dominating 46-7 win over Eau Claire Regis.
In over thirty years of coaching, and five state championships, the one constant in Edgar wildcat football is the “Sinz” name.
It starts at the top of the program with Edgar football coach Jerry Sinz.
He just wrapped up his 35th year on the Edgar sideline.
He's had each of his four sons, Jason, Jeremy, Jordan and Justin on the field over that time.
The Sinz tradition started with Jason all the way back in 1987.
Unfortunately, Jason is the only one of the Sinz brothers to not win state.
"As close as I got was losing in a state semi-final game,” said Jason, a 1991 Edgar Wildcat.
"When dad's had his boys in the program, things have gone pretty well for the wildcats... It's awfully exciting for us to see the last round of tradition at state," said Jason.
"Poor Jason. Back in the day when we only get one team in, and we had a darn good one that year too," said brother Jeremy Sinz, a 1993 Edgar Wildcat
"It was awesome winning as a junior, but it certainly was a bad taste walking off as a senior," said Jordan Sinz, 1999 Edgar Wildcat.
"Three of the four were able to get a state championship, which is great," said Justin Sinz, quarterback of the 2009 Division 6 State Champion Edgar Wildcats.
With Justin being the last to come through the program, you have to wonder whether or not Jerry will hang it up to follow Justin playing in college.
Or continue with the program he's rebuilt since 1975.
"I don't anticipate that this is the end of the road for my dad and the Edgar program. He certainly hasn't let onto his son that’s the case," said Jason.
"I know his passion for football is very strong. So I don't know if he'll be leaving anytime soon or not," said Jeremy.
"I haven't thought about it yet, it's something I’ll have to think about and reflect, but i have no plans to do that now," said Edgar Football Coach Jerry Sinz.
