Wisconsin Officials Urge Hunters to Stay Safe
AP
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin's traditional November gun deer hunt has begun.
But state wildlife officials say don't forget to stay safe.
Department of Natural Resources experts say they can't remind hunters enough to follow the four basic firearm rules: treat every weapon as if it were loaded, always point the muzzle in a safe direction at all times, be certain of the target and what's beyond it and keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to shoot.
DNR Hunter Safety Administrator Tim Lawhern says hunters should practice the rules until they become reflex.
