Classes in the Crandon School District will resume Wednesday, October 10, according to Superintendent Dr. Richard Peters.
Peters says in a news release that the focus of district staff is to help the students cope with the tragedy.
Early Sunday morning, Forest County Sheriff's Deputy Tyler Peterson forced his way into a Crandon duplex and fired 30 rounds, killing six and injuring one, according to Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen.
Peterson was later involved in a shootout with authorities north of Crandon, where he was killed.
"We extend our heartfelt sympathy to the families and friends of the young people who have died," says Peters.
Peters also says several nearby school districts have offered their services to help.
Counseling services for students will be made available upon their return on Wednesday.
Counseling was also made available Monday for students, staff and families at Praise Chapel.
Peters also announced changes to this week's athletic schedule:
-The Junior Varsity football game scheduled for Monday has been canceled
-The Middle School 7th and 8th grade girls basketball game scheduled for Tuesday night has been canceled
