The recovery process is only beginning for people who lost their homes and pieces of their lives after tornadoes ripped through Northcentral Wisconsin this week.

And if you or anyone you know is a tornado victim who is needing some help the Red Cross is here to give support.

“We will be working with them throughout their recovery process as long as needed,” said Jenny Legaspi, the Disaster Services Director for the American Red Cross of Marathon County. “It could be assistance for food, clothing, health services – or if they have any information or questions.

The Salvation Army in Wausau says they are also offering assistance where it’s needed.

Officials say at least five tornadoes touched down on Thursday – but 2 reports remain unconfirmed.

The National Weather Service says the tornado that destroyed the Bear Paw Outdoor Adventure Resort in White Lake had winds in excess of 140 miles per hour.

Some people in Wausau are offering a helping hand on their own.

Kayakers set up a relief fund in downtown Wausau’s Whitewater Park today to raise money for Bear Paw.

These local kayakers are already missing the place they used to stay and buy equipment from, and yesterday they started rebuilding the place they knew and loved so much.
